This is second mortgage report produced by YouGov SixthSense.
This report aims to extend and update some of the data contained in
the previous report and study new aspects of the mortgage market.
Compared with the previous report, this edition has more emphasis
on the customer's journey through the mortgage market and looks
more closely at mortgage switching and adjustment.
Taking out a mortgage is the single largest financial
transaction undertaken by most adults. The mortgage and house
buying market have long been central to understanding consumer
behaviour, so important to consumer aspirations and finances is the
purchase of a home. While the key role of home buying is now on the
wane as renting re-emerges as a crucial and growing form of tenure,
buying with a mortgage remains the single most important method of
tenure. The mortgage market will continue to be a prime economic
barometer and influence over consumer actions.
