Major Alcohol Categories

Sample findings:

  • In March 2010, just under half the population drink lager regularly, but a third still drink the indigenous beers.
  • Beer remains the leading alcohol category, with 46% of adults drinking the lager style and 33% the traditional, indigenous types (ale, stout etc).
  • Unlike beer, the natural home of wine is traditionally the restaurant, although it is increasingly stocked in quantity by British households.
