This report focuses on a particular segment of the automobile
market, namely city cars. These vehicles are typically smaller cars
which have increased in popularity in recent years on the back of
an increased demand for mobility coupled with the benefits offered
by their smaller size.
For this report, YouGov SixthSense commissioned a survey among
YouGov's online panel, drawing on a sample of 2,009 UK adults aged
18+ who own a car for which they are personally responsible and is
used only or mainly for personal (i.e. non-business) use.
Questions that were asked of this group cover a variety of
topics with both existing city car drivers as well as the wider
motoring public targeted:
- Current levels of city car ownership, when it was bought and
the type of car it is
- The make and model of the city car and who decided on this
make/model
- Where the city car was purchased
- Opinion of staff in city car showrooms/dealers/car
supermarkets
- Use of the services offered by the showroom/dealer/car
supermarket
- Rating of the after-sales services of dealers
- Actions taken before a car was purchased
- How likely consumers who own a city car are to buy another city
car at this moment in time and how likely consumers are to buy a
car within the next two years
- Reasons for wanting to buy another city car
- The uses to which cars are put overall
- The distances travelled by drivers in their car
- The likelihood of all drivers purchasing a city car within the
next two years and what make/model it would be
- Impact of the purchase of a city car on driving behaviour
- Where a city car would be purchased within the next two
years
- What sources of information consumers use when searching for
city cars
- Factors that have the strongest influence on a city car
purchase
- The type of fuel/engine size that is desirable for a city
car
- The amount willing to spend on the purchase of a city car

the coming decade.
