Legal Services
Economic tumult in recent years has affected the legal services
profession in more nuanced ways than it has other sectors. Where
profitablitiy was down in 2009 (24.4bn) on figures from 2008, it
would appear that the legal services sector has found its feet
again (current estimates put revenue for 2010 at 25.5bn).
Focusing on more widely used legal products - such as personal
injury claims (PI), wills and probates, conveyancing and employment
disputes - this report seeks to quantify the value of particular
marketing channels and methods of recommendation (e.g. comparison
sites, word of mouth) for both national and smaller firms. Through
consumer analysis this report finds new means to encourage the
consumption of 'non-distress' legal products, such as wills and
probates.
With the anticipated implementation of the 'Tesco law', the
YouGov Legal Services report outlines the scope for national retail
brands, hitherto recognised as major actors in other sectors, to
expand into the legal services realm. It explores the need for a
greater commitment on behalf of these retail brands to channel more
effectively loyalty data and current user recognition from other
markets to consolidate their position in the legal services
sector.
