Domestic Appliances
The market for domestic appliances has been badly affected by
the recent slowdown in the UK economy. The accompanying problems
that affected the housing sector have proved especially significant
in restraining purchases with the wider loss of confidence also
proving a major issue for many consumers.
Yet despite this the market for such products is sizeable
estimated at £3bn in 2009. The sector has suffered from a
decline in retail sales since 2006 as the impacts of the credit
crunch and then recession forced many consumers to delay or trade
down when it came to purchasing. Yet as YouGov SixthSense's
research shows, domestic appliances are an important part of
consumer's daily lives and considerable latent demand exists.
The review focuses on the market for domestic appliances. These
are grouped under five headings as comprising:
- Fridges and freezers
- Washing machines and tumble dryers
- Dishwashers
- Gas/Electric cookers
- Microwave ovens
The review only profiles those domestic appliances that are
designed primarily for use in the home. It specifically excludes
markets outside of the home as well as commercial/business use.
Our Domestic appliances report is updated throughout the year
and so enables you to take advantage of market changes as they
happen.
